Heritage and Conservation

Each of our churches has its own history, and is embedded in the heritage and traditions of our villages. Our churchyards are not only important sources of information about our predecessors, but also havens for peace and reflection and contribute to conservation and biodiversity.

St George's Church

St George’s Church has a rich history and, along with the churchyard, reflects the seafaring heritage of the villages of Pill and Easton in Gordano.

St Mary's Church

St Mary’s is a Grade 1 listed 12th Century church but is far from being a 900 year old museum. Local history is on display in a lively timeline illustrated by local artists. There is a Heritage Centre full of historical documents, photos and maps where family history can be researched. Heritage tours are also available.

There are 2 nature reserves within easy walking distance and Prior’s Wood hosts a stunning display of Bluebells each spring which attracts visitors from far and wide. Car Parking and a Bluebell café are available at the church in support of 3 local charities.
